5th Graders built paper sculpture cities based on their Civilization City design they drew at the beginning of the unit. They cane up with a name for their civilization. Their cities could be based on the past, present or future. Students were show a video of how to work with paper in three dimensions. It was open ended as to what they could build. Different colored construction paper, copy paper, and cardstock were provided, as well as glue stick and scissors. Some tape was also provided but students were told to work with it in a limited capacity.

Lesson Plan—Line Monsters, Kindergarten
Kindergarten lesson teaching students how to work with the element of line. Students were read a story about a line monster and then were shown different styles of line to draw on their watercolor paper with a black crayon. After drawing their lines, students applied watercolor rainbow colors as a wax resist. They then cut paper shapes for eyes, mouth, arms and legs. Finished pieces were displayed in the hallway on a bulletin board.
