During my high school student teaching, students were given the same lesson as in elementary school with designing a Civilization City. We added the technique and skill of drawing a city with one-point perspective. In working with this technique, students realized they could work in two-point perspective, as well, which I allowed and was happy they made this discovery. I had the assignments for Avatars and Flags as well, but students were so enthralled with their city design in colored pencil--brainstorming about it, experimenting with the media, that we spent five weeks getting their final city drawings done.
